The Seocho Garak Tower East in the South Korean city of Seoul soars upwards like a wave of liquid metal. The facade of the 130 metre high building which was inaugurated in 2011 is dominated by dynamic lines and curving surfaces. This presented particular challenges in terms of the design of the Parallel-Projecting windows and their motor-driven drives – not least because the windows of the skyscraper are made up of many parallelograms of different shapes and sizes instead of uniform outlines. These challenges are met by our system technology: our in-house experts developed, among others, new Parallel-Projecting friction stays for the hardware of parallelogram-shaped windows. These innovations ensure – together with concealed hardware and our concealed chain drives – an exceptionally high technical standard in harmony with the exclusive design by the Dutch architects Het Architecten Consort in Rotterdam.

GU solution: hardware for Parallel-Projecting windows and their motor-driven drives. New parallel stays were developed in-house for the parallelogram window forms of the Garak Tower
