The generous openness of the entrance building represents the variety of exhibits from over a hundred cultures from five continents. The above-ground part of the building is a roof construction consisting of geometric facade and window elements. The major part of the museum where the exhibit rooms are located is up to 10 metres below street level. This is why the museum is referred to as architectural iceberg.
The prominent diamond-shaped facade windows are motor-driven Parallel-Projecting windows for which we especially designed and manufactured the hardware. The Parallel-Projecting friction stays are a special version. The window sashes with a size of 1250 x 4200 mm and a weight of 110 kg feature a retracting distance of 200 mm.
